Pen, ink and wash 1957
Hyacinths and other winter-flowering pot plants on the kitchen window sill at Tan House, Cherry
Gardens, Wye, Kent, where Dunbar and her husband Roger Folley lived for a few months in 1957-8.
They were not happy with their choice of a modern house, which perhaps shows in the sombre
nature of Dunbar’s drawing. By the autumn of 1958 they had sold it and had moved into Staple
Farm, Hastingleigh, a larger, older and more commodious house on the North Downs.
