During the War years and immediately after, when it was less easy to travel, Tempest found a source of inspiration within the safety and comfort of his home and garden (44 Llanover Rd, London, SE18). From here, he produced a remarkable series of views recording the different seasons, weather conditions, and fall of sunlight at different times of day. These were exhibited at the Royal Academy during the 1940’s and 1950’s
