Felice Lievin Bauwens trained at the Royal Academy Schools in the late
1920’s and early 1930’s; her mother was also a painter from the Slade
who had married a Belgian during the war. Felice exhibited with the New
English Art Club, the R.B.A. and the Royal Academy up to the outbreak of
the Second World War. Her work, largely unseen until now, typifies the
interwar years. This interior is likely to show either an art class at
the Slade or the Academy Schools.
