DESCRIPTION

Provenance:
Judy Collino

Generally poor condition

The
pilot  wears RAF flying kit – the figure next to
him is a Polish Army officer as the PAF did not wear Konfederatka’s (a
square-topped cap). The cap top left looks like a US Navy sailor. Below
is  Sikh.
Pencil sketches to the margins include caricatures of General de Gaule.
It is unknown if this usual design commission was realized.

We are grateful to Andrew Cormack FSA

Keeper of Medals, Uniforms and Visual Arts, RAF Hendon, for assistance.
