In double glazed frame with picture to reverse. There is no record of Dunbar having completed her proposed allegory Faith, Hope and Charity. However her design, with Charity symbolically faceless and therefore anonymous, was eventually used for Dunbar’s and her husband Roger Folley’s Christmas card in 1950. The official notepaper, used unofficially by Dunbar, is from the Oxford University Agricultural Research Institute, where Roger Folley worked from 1946-50. Dunbar would sometimes sketch, explore ideas or make notes on the nearest piece of paper to hand. Her sketch books per se are vastly outnumbered by pieces of paper.
