Gouache. – Circa 1940’s
These designs were intended for dress fabrics or wall coverings and upholstery designs. Some were entered for national design awards.
Using a precise linocut technique by Amy Finney features a striking grid-based design dominated by squares of red and yellow. Within each square, triangular sections of white and deep indigo create a dynamic internal pattern. Horizontal bands of indigo, embellished with red circles and yellow diamonds, separate the rows of squares, adding a distinct structural element to the composition.
