A rare collection of works from the artist’s estate
Kathleen Guthrie and John Cecil Stephenson married in 1941 and lived for the rest of their lives at no 6 Mall studios, Hampstead, famously described by Herbert Read, as the gentle nest of artists that had included luminaries such as Barbara Hepworth and Ben Nicholson. Piet Mondrian and Alexander Calder were also visitors in the early years of WWII.
On the occasion of the Stephenson exhibition at Burgh House (showing until 18 Sept. 2022), ModernBritishArtGallery are delighted to offer this FINAL selection of works from the estate of Kathleen Guthrie and John Cecil Stephenson. The campaign also includes a lyrical design for a mural by Kathleen Guthrie’s first husband, Robin Guthrie.
